WMA is a joint venture between quantitative firm WorldQuant and multi-manager Millennium Management. The arrangement allows WorldQuant to run external capital while using Millennium’s operational platform and infrastructure.
The partnership followed years of discussions between WorldQuant founder Igor Tulchinsky and Millennium founder Izzy Englander. WMA launched its first external fund in 2018, raising $2.3 billion.
Since mid-2024 the firm has expanded its product lineup and attracted more institutional investors, contributing to the rise in assets. WorldQuant deploys systematic models across the mandates while Millennium provides back-office systems, risk controls and trading infrastructure.
Institutional allocators have been increasing exposure to hedge funds, supporting fundraising for large quantitative and multi-manager firms.
