Webinar: Extracting value across the payments lifecycle

Finextra and Bottomline will host a webinar on how banks and payments firms can extract more value from payments infrastructure and adopt AI and multi-rail strategies.

Finextra and Bottomline will host a webinar to examine how financial institutions can extract greater value from payments infrastructure, reduce operational complexity and apply AI and multi-rail approaches across routing, messaging and settlement.

The session will bring together practitioners and product specialists. Natasha Lapierre, Global Head of Product Strategy and Innovation, Financial Messaging at Bottomline, will speak on product and messaging challenges. Scott Hamilton, global payments and liquidity expert, will moderate the discussion.

Speakers will address operational pressures created by a mix of domestic and international schemes, the growth of real-time payment rails, legacy systems and new payment methods. They will assess how ISO 20022 affects data handling, reconciliation and transaction reporting.

Panelists will outline ways to reduce manual work through automation and API-based integration while maintaining sanctions screening, transaction reporting and fraud controls. Topics listed for the webinar include routing logic, enriched data management, monitoring and incident response.

The programme will examine practical uses of AI and machine learning in payments operations, including anomaly detection, automated decisioning and data enrichment. The discussion will cover requirements for reliable data foundations, model explainability and human oversight, and the areas where human review remains necessary for compliance and fraud investigations.

Speakers will review multi-rail strategies that combine real-time networks, traditional clearing systems and alternative rails, including API ecosystems and distributed ledger technology. They will consider integration approaches that preserve end-to-end visibility and the technical and governance changes needed for cross-border reporting consistency.

Session topics will include designing control frameworks that scale with transaction volumes, centralising payment data for analysis, automating repetitive tasks to reduce errors, and resilience testing for peak volumes and system outages.

The webinar is aimed at banks, payments operators and corporate treasury teams responsible for payments infrastructure and operations. Registration information is available from the organisers.
