Webinar: Banks urged to add intelligence to payments rails

Finextra and Bottomline will host a webinar on adding intelligence, visibility and control across multi-rail payment systems to reduce complexity and strengthen fraud and compliance.

Finextra and Bottomline will host an online webinar that examines how banks can extend the value of payments infrastructure beyond basic connectivity by adding intelligence, visibility and control across multiple payment rails. The session will focus on reducing operational complexity and improving fraud prevention, compliance, resilience and operational agility.

The event will take place online; date and time are listed on the registration page on Finextra’s website. Scott Hamilton, global payments and liquidity expert, will moderate. Natasha Lapierre, global head of product strategy and innovation for financial messaging at Bottomline, will join the panel.

Panelists will review the mix of domestic and international schemes, real-time networks, legacy systems and new payment methods that contribute to fragmented payment environments. The discussion will cover routing and data management, improving visibility across multiple rails, and streamlining reporting to meet regulatory requirements.

Speakers will examine how ISO 20022 adoption has standardised message formats while leaving practical issues around routing, reconciliation and data handling.

The webinar will consider automation, artificial intelligence and analytics in payments operations. Topics under discussion include automated transaction monitoring, data-driven routing decisions and machine learning models for fraud detection, together with the need for explainable models, reliable data foundations and continued human oversight.

Panelists will address approaches to fraud prevention and compliance that combine rule-based systems with analytics. The session will also look at controls that operate across networks and jurisdictions, and steps to improve reporting and regulatory alignment.

Speakers will explore cross-border payments and interoperability, including API-based connectivity, shared data standards and the possible use of blockchain in specific use cases.

The webinar will outline practical steps for institutions that want to modernise without replacing core systems, including designing interoperability layers, improving end-to-end transaction visibility and prioritising use cases that reduce manual work and exceptions. The discussion will note trade-offs among speed, security and customer experience.

Registration is available on Finextra’s website.
