Visa, Revolut complete passkey agent payment in France
Visa and Revolut completed France’s first passkey-authenticated agent card payment at a Cleverbridge checkout using Visa Payment Passkey and Visa’s Intelligent Commerce AI.
Visa and Revolut completed the first passkey-authenticated agent card payment in France during a live checkout at software reseller Cleverbridge. The transaction was executed by Visa’s test agent, My Agent, on a French consumer Revolut card and used Visa Payment Passkey for authentication.
Visa’s Intelligent Commerce AI provided identity checks, card security and real-time fraud monitoring while the payment was processed. The agent initiated the payment using the customer’s Revolut card details and required customer authorization before completion.
A passkey is a cryptographic credential stored on a device that replaces password entry and confirms the cardholder’s intent. The AI layer evaluated transaction risk in real time and monitored for suspicious activity during the checkout.
My Agent is a test agent built to act under predefined permissions. It completes payments only after the customer authorizes the action and when the payment conforms to spending limits and rules set by the user.
Revolut supplied the card used in the test. The company recently received a full European banking licence from French regulators and plans to open a Western European headquarters in Paris next year.
Visa and Revolut did not issue public statements beyond the technical details released about the demonstration. The trial combined passkey authentication, AI-driven risk checks and merchant checkout integration in an authorised agent payment flow.
The test follows ongoing industry work on passwordless authentication and automated payments that can be managed by digital agents.
