Verition loses five macro traders as it hires London PM

Verition Fund Management has lost at least five macro traders while hiring Chris Telfer as a London-based portfolio manager.

Verition Fund Management has lost at least five macro traders, including former professionals from Nomura, Brevan Howard and UBS, while hiring Chris Telfer as a London-based portfolio manager.

Stanley Sun, Will Hirschmann and Grant Web joined Verition from Nomura in 2022. They worked on a New York-based macro and relative-value trading team.

Ken Wang, a former Brevan Howard portfolio manager focused on rates and relative-value strategies, joined Verition in 2024 and has since left the firm.

James Regan, who previously led G11 short-term interest-rate trading at UBS in London, left Verition in July 2026 after two years. He has since joined rival multi-strategy hedge fund Millennium Management in New York.

Verition is also in discussions with Dubai-based macro trader Antonio Belgioioso, who joined the firm from Goldman Sachs in 2025. It is unclear whether he plans to leave.

The departures follow earlier changes to Verition’s trading teams. The firm closed a unit led by former Goldman Sachs traders at the end of 2025. Quantitative trader Damien Couture also left in July.

Telfer joined Verition in London from Athlone Investment Management, where he was a macro credit portfolio manager.

The hire comes as Verition expands its London operations. The firm recently took additional office space previously occupied by Eisler Capital.
