Vanguard named alternate fund for Trump (530A) accounts
The U.S. Treasury selected Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI) as an alternate option for Trump (530A) Accounts; Vanguard will accept rollovers after Treasury issues guidance.
Vanguard said on July 2, 2026 that the U.S. Treasury Department selected the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI) as an alternate investment option for Trump (530A) Accounts. The firm said it intends to support rollovers into the new accounts once it receives and reviews formal guidance from the Treasury.
Vanguard described Trump (530A) Accounts as a Treasury-created vehicle to help families save and invest on behalf of their children. The company said the Treasury’s designation of VTI gives families access to a widely held exchange-traded fund as an option within the account structure.
VTI tracks a broad set of U.S. equities and trades on public markets as an ETF. Vanguard noted the fund is part of its lineup of low-cost, diversified index products and cited its long history offering such funds.
Rodney Comegys, chief investment officer of Vanguard Capital Management and head of global equity at Vanguard, wrote that the firm has “long advocated for low-cost, diversified child savings accounts and wealth building solutions that enhance investment opportunities for children and families.” He added that Vanguard has been committed for more than 50 years to helping investors pursue financial goals with low-cost, broadly diversified index funds.
Vanguard did not provide a start date for rollovers or operational details. The firm said it will enable transfers into Trump Accounts after the Treasury issues formal instructions and procedures.
