UK payments firm launches equity raise for retail rollout

A UK payments company has launched an equity raise to fund hardware, software and services to expand in‑store payments infrastructure across domestic retailers.

A UK payments company has launched an equity raise to finance development and deployment of new retail payments infrastructure across the United Kingdom.

Proceeds will be used to build point-of-sale hardware, payment terminals, connectivity and cloud-based transaction processing that link tills to merchant services. The funding is intended to cover software development, terminal deployment and merchant support services.

Executives plan the upgrades to support merchant acquisition, replace legacy terminals and improve integration between physical stores and online sales channels. The company intends to sell bundled hardware and subscription services to small and medium retail chains and larger national brands.

Deployment is expected to begin within months of completing the capital raise. Rollouts will be phased by region, prioritising select retailers first. Installations are set to include integrated receipt systems, contactless readers and back-office connections to inventory and loyalty platforms. Staff training, merchant onboarding and maintenance support are part of the rollout.

The company is allocating funds to scale customer service operations and to strengthen transaction security and compliance. Planned security upgrades include standardised encryption, tokenisation of card data and compliance monitoring tools to align with UK and EU rules.

The raise comes amid tighter margins on card processing and increased competition from fintech entrants and large technology platforms. Industry practice often uses equity funding for capital-heavy hardware and network projects to preserve balance-sheet flexibility and limit additional debt.

The firm has offered new shares to outside investors to secure the funding. No quotes were provided. Further details, including the size of the raise and the identity of any anchor investors, will be released once the share issuance is finalised.
