Trading Technologies to launch prediction market venue
Trading Technologies will open a venue for event-based contracts, using its matching engines and market data to serve professional and retail traders.
Trading Technologies will build a trading venue for event-based contracts, using its existing matching engines, market data and advanced order types to enable continuous trading in instruments tied to political, economic and other specified outcomes. The venue is intended for both professional and retail traders.
The firm plans to make the market available to its current clients — exchanges, brokers and trading firms — and to individual traders who use its desktop platform and APIs. No formal launch date has been set. The company has not disclosed final details on which jurisdictions or which event types the venue will cover.
Planned features include order books with multiple order types, real-time market data feeds and post-trade reporting. Trading Technologies intends to apply its current risk controls, connectivity and low-latency access so participants can trade event-linked instruments alongside other products.
The firm plans to coordinate with regulators and venue operators to meet compliance and surveillance requirements and to integrate clearing and settlement arrangements where required by law. It also plans to deploy surveillance systems to detect abusive trading and to establish procedures for settlement when outcomes are delayed or contested.
Prediction markets create contracts that pay out based on a specified event outcome, such as an election result, an economic statistic or a corporate milestone. These markets have typically operated on specialist platforms and have faced limits from regulatory uncertainty and the technical demands of continuous electronic trading. Trading Technologies has experience in regulated exchange connectivity and institutional trading tools.
The company will work with market participants to define contract specifications, eligibility rules and trading hours. Further operational details, fee schedules and access requirements will be released as development progresses.
