Tokenised cards and Pay by Bank shape multi-rail bank
Finextra and ACI Worldwide will host a webinar on Sept. 17, 2026 on how tokenised cards and Pay by Bank are reshaping consumer payments; global card transactions hit 776 billion in 2024.
Finextra and ACI Worldwide will host an online webinar on Sept. 17, 2026 at 15:00 BST / 16:00 CEST / 10:00 EDT to examine how tokenised cards and Pay by Bank affect consumer payments and bank operating models.
The session will focus on the technical, commercial and regulatory implications of running card rails, account-to-account (A2A) rails and agent-initiated payment flows from a single operating model. Speakers include Dean Wallace, director of consumer payments modernization at ACI Worldwide; Ramon Villarreal, global payments industry lead at Red Hat; and moderator Jane Cooper of Finextra.
The webinar agenda lists topics such as credential management, tokenisation, digital wallets, real-time decisioning, routing logic and failover between rails. Panelists will discuss where each rail delivers different economic outcomes and customer experiences.
Industry data to be discussed show global card transactions reached 776 billion in 2024 and are forecast to reach about 1.1 trillion by 2029. Global A2A volumes are projected to rise from roughly 60 billion in 2024 to more than 185 billion by 2029.
The programme includes a review of agent-initiated commerce models, with examples such as Visa TAP, Mastercard Agent Pay and Google AP2, and their potential effects on fraud control, dispute rights and consumer protections.
Panelists will address how tokenisation and digital wallets change acceptance economics for merchants and payment service providers, and how reimbursement rules and merchant incentives feed into issuer and acquirer profit and loss statements.
The webinar will also cover commercial factors behind the growth of Pay by Bank in Europe and other regions, and where A2A options may offer lower acceptance cost or different consumer experiences compared with card payments.
The event is presented by Finextra in association with ACI Worldwide. Registration details are available from the organisers’ websites.
