Tilt Indices Joins Index Industry Association

Tilt Indices has joined the Index Industry Association, bringing the group’s membership to 18 firms worldwide.

Tilt Indices has joined the Index Industry Association, the group said, bringing IIA membership to 18 index providers worldwide. The association said the addition reflects growing breadth and diversity in the global index industry as providers expand the range of benchmarks across asset classes and markets.

Tilt Indices, established in 2024, develops thematic and customised indexes using technology, alternative data and quantitative methods. The firm currently offers five proprietary indexes and is expanding its platform for index development and custom strategies intended to support a variety of investment applications. Tilt is part of parent company Agora Intelligence and says it aims to make index creation more flexible and accessible for investors.

Kirsten Wegner, chief executive of the Index Industry Association, welcomed the new member: “We are pleased to welcome Tilt Indices to the IIA. Their focus on identifying emerging investment trends and translating those insights into transparent index strategies adds to the diversity of perspectives within our membership. We look forward to having their expertise represented within the IIA and to working together on the issues that matter to the index industry and the markets it serves.”

Andrew Peek, founder and CEO of Tilt Indices and Agora Intelligence, described the firm’s view on index design: “Indexing fundamentally changed investing by giving people more transparent and efficient ways to form capital and access markets. We believe the next evolution is about building on that foundation to make index creation more flexible and accessible, giving investors increasingly precise ways to express what they believe about markets. Becoming a member of the Index Industry Association gives us the opportunity to contribute to that conversation alongside organisations that have shaped this industry.”

The IIA did not provide an effective date for when Tilt’s membership began. The association characterises its role as a forum for index providers to collaborate on standards and industry matters such as transparency, index governance and the development of investable benchmarks. The IIA added that Tilt’s membership offers another perspective for discussions on index standards, product development and market practices, and provides the firm access to peer engagement on methodologies, licensing and regulatory issues that affect index construction.
