Thunes to handle Fiserv merchant cross-border payouts
Thunes will power international payouts for Fiserv’s merchant ecosystem, enabling instant transfers to bank accounts and mobile wallets in 140+ countries and about 90 currencies.
Thunes will support international payouts for Fiserv’s merchant ecosystem, allowing Fiserv clients to send instant cross-border payments to bank accounts and mobile wallets in more than 140 countries and roughly 90 currencies. Fiserv clients will be able to access Thunes’ Direct Global Network, which the company says connects to an estimated 12 billion bank accounts and mobile wallets.
Under the agreement, Thunes will provide payout capabilities for Fiserv’s merchant customers, including ecommerce platforms and marketplaces. Businesses will be able to use the service to pay employees, suppliers and bills across borders.
The collaboration pairs Thunes’ cross-border payouts infrastructure with Fiserv’s merchant platform. Where local instant payment rails exist, payouts will be processed in real time; in other markets Thunes will route compliant cross-border payouts through available rails.
Neither company disclosed commercial terms or a rollout timetable for specific markets.
Fiserv will integrate Thunes’ payout rails into its merchant offerings to expand cross-border disbursement options for its customers.
Thunes has obtained money transmission licenses in all U.S. states where required and said it is expanding support for major fintechs in the U.S. and other markets.
Sanjay Saraf, chief product officer for Fiserv Merchant Services, said: “As merchants expand across borders, they need payments that are as seamless as their growth ambitions. Our work with Thunes helps businesses move money globally with greater speed, transparency and predictability, supporting more efficient and scalable global operations.”
Chloé Mayenobe, deputy CEO at Thunes, commented that the partnership validates Thunes’ ability to support large fintechs and deliver compliant cross-border payouts through its global network.
Kyle Rosen, head of Americas at Thunes, noted the U.S. opportunity and said many U.S. platforms and marketplaces have faced friction when paying out globally at scale; he highlighted that Thunes’ U.S. licensing supports domestic execution and broader global disbursements.
