Texas Stock Exchange Lists TXS and OILT as First Primary ETFs
TXSE rang its market-close bell as Texas Capital moved TXS and OILT from NYSE Arca and began trading on the Texas Stock Exchange as the exchange’s first primary ETF listings.
The Texas Stock Exchange rang its market-close bell in Dallas after Texas Capital transferred the primary listings for the Texas Equity Index ETF (TXS) and the Texas Oil Index ETF (OILT) from NYSE Arca and began trading the funds on TXSE. The exchange identified the transfers as its first primary ETF listings and the first primary listings domiciled in Texas.
Both funds launched in 2023. TXS provides diversified exposure to publicly traded companies headquartered in Texas. OILT targets publicly traded oil and gas producers with significant production activity in the state.
James H. Lee, chairman and CEO of the Texas Stock Exchange, described the transfers as the start of a broader rollout of primary ETF listings and commented, “We could not have scripted a better way to start than by welcoming two of Texas Capital’s ETFs home to Texas.”
Rob C. Holmes, chairman, president and CEO of Texas Capital, characterized the transfers as a reflection of the firm’s confidence in the exchange and its focus on supporting companies and investors in Texas: “This milestone reflects our deep conviction in Texas, our confidence in the Texas Stock Exchange, and our belief that the companies, investors, and entrepreneurs driving economic growth in Texas deserve a differentiated world-class capital markets platform built right here at home.”
Robert S. Howden, Texas secretary of state, pointed to the state’s economic growth and the significance of an exchange headquartered and incorporated in Texas: “Texas has become the epicenter of economic growth and innovation in the 21st century. We lead in energy, we lead in technology and advanced manufacturing, and now we have a stock exchange built, headquartered and incorporated in our state.”
The exchange announced the transfers begin a program to attract primary listings from other venues and to offer a home-state listing option for funds and issuers. Both TXS and OILT will continue to trade under their existing tickers on the Texas Stock Exchange.
