Tether leads $3M seed round for Colombia’s Plenti

Tether led a $3 million seed round in Colombian fintech Plenti to consolidate in Colombia and fund expansion into Peru and Bolivia, with participation from Verda Ventures.

Tether led a $3 million seed round in Plenti, a Colombian fintech that offers multicurrency accounts and investment services, the company announced. Verda Ventures also participated. Plenti said it will use the funds to consolidate operations in Colombia and finance planned entries into Peru and Bolivia.

Plenti provides international transfers, multicurrency accounts, returns on balances of up to 8% annual equivalent and fractional investments starting at $6 in U.S.-listed stocks, ETFs and crypto assets. The company reported more than 150,000 active users and annual transaction volume exceeding $3.1 billion across its B2B and B2C divisions.

The firm competes with regional platforms including ARQ (formerly DolarApp), Littio and Bitso, aiming at customers who need dollar access, cross-border payments and simple access to U.S. markets.

Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, reported roughly $184.6 billion in USDT in circulation at the end of the second quarter of 2026, representing about 60% of the global stablecoin market. Company executives expect the investment to strengthen Plenti’s platform liquidity and security as it expands into new markets.

According to Martín Peláez, co-founder and CTO of Plenti, “Having Tether come in now as an investor validates what we’ve built and lets us strengthen the platform’s liquidity and security to bring this model to more markets in Latin America.” Peláez added, “We raised $3 million for an operation that already moves more than $3.1 billion a year. We didn’t need capital to grow in Colombia, we raised it to accelerate and bring the model to new markets.”

Plenti said the seed capital will support product development, regulatory readiness and the costs of entering Peru and Bolivia.
