STX deploys Eventus Validus for trade surveillance

STX has deployed Eventus Validus to provide all trade surveillance for its planned regulated market.

STX has deployed the Eventus Validus platform to provide all trade surveillance for the regulated market it plans to launch. The system will monitor trading across contracts tied to sports outcomes, cryptocurrencies and other real‑world events.

The exchange, based in the U.S. and regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, selected Eventus to run surveillance as it prepares to open a regulated trading venue. The platform will be used from the first day of trading to detect potential manipulative behavior in real time and to support investigations by the exchange’s compliance team.

Eventus supplies trade surveillance and financial risk software to exchanges, broker‑dealers and other regulated firms. The vendor assisted STX during regulatory engagement, supporting demonstrations of its surveillance capabilities and helping shape the production environment for live use.

STX says a dedicated surveillance team monitors Validus daily and updates procedures and controls as its markets develop. The exchange is advancing its application with the CFTC for recognition as a Designated Contract Market and a Derivatives Clearing Organization, seeking licenses under the XV Exchange and XV Clearing entities.

Justin Deutsch, founder and chief executive of STX, noted: “Validus enables STX to monitor for a broad range of potentially manipulative behaviors, including insider dealing, momentum ignition, price ramping, large order and trade anomalies, layering, spoofing, cross‑product spoofing and cancel‑after‑fill activity.” He added that the platform’s investigative tools and analytics help the surveillance team identify, investigate and respond to unusual trading patterns.

Cameron Routh, Eventus chief executive, commented: “We’re honored that STX has chosen Eventus to underpin the integrity of its new regulated market.” He also pointed out that other prediction and information markets have integrated surveillance at launch.

STX’s planned market focuses on event‑based contracts tied to sports, crypto and other real‑world events. The exchange has described market integrity and investor protection as central to its regulatory approach and expects surveillance to remain a core part of operations as it seeks approval and begins live trading.
