Stifel hires gatekeeper for hedge funds, liquid alternatives
Stifel is hiring an assistant vice president to conduct due diligence on hedge funds, liquid alternatives and tax-aware strategies. Candidates need three years’ experience, a CFA and must be office-based.
Stifel, the St. Louis-based wealth manager, is recruiting an assistant vice president to serve as a gatekeeper for hedge funds, liquid alternatives and related tax-efficient investments. The firm posted the job recently.
The role will involve conducting formal due diligence on those strategies and on tax-related structures, and reviewing products that may be recommended to clients or included in model portfolios. The new hire will work within Stifel’s investment gatekeeping and research team alongside chief investment officer Michael O’Keefe and research director Matt Kelley.
The job listing specifies experience with exchange funds, opportunity zone funds, 721 exchange strategies, tax-aware long/short separately managed accounts and tax-focused hedge funds. Day-to-day duties include assessing manager strategies, reviewing tax implications and supporting gatekeeping processes.
Applicants must have at least three years of relevant experience and hold the CFA designation. The posting lists CAIA and CFP credentials as preferred. The role is office-based and no salary range was disclosed.
Stifel has expanded its alternatives research and gatekeeping functions to provide more formal evaluation of complex and tax-aware strategies. The assistant vice president will be expected to apply both investment and tax knowledge when reviewing managers and structures that combine alternative exposure with tax considerations.
