Spiros Giannaros appointed CEO of Gresham

Gresham appointed Spiros Giannaros as CEO; Mark Hepsworth will move to the board. Giannaros has been an operating adviser since February 2026 and previously led Charles River Development.

Gresham appointed Spiros Giannaros as chief executive officer, replacing Mark Hepsworth, who will leave the executive role to take a seat on the company board. The appointment was confirmed by Gresham and its owner, Software Technology Group (STG).

Giannaros has more than 25 years’ experience building and scaling software platforms for the capital markets. He has served as an operating adviser to Gresham and STG since February 2026 and will assume the CEO role following that advisory period.

His most recent operational role was president and CEO of Charles River Development, where he led a front-office investment management platform that supported more than $59 trillion in assets under management and about 2,400 employees worldwide. He also served as head of platform strategy for State Street Alpha.

Earlier in his career, Giannaros was a partner and senior vice president at Markit, now part of S&P Global, where he led the Markit EDM business. Gresham acquired S&P Global’s Enterprise Data Management business, which included the Markit EDM assets, in January 2026.

STG has provided capital to support Gresham’s product plans, with stated priorities on expanding data, automation and artificial intelligence capabilities for financial institutions. The company said the appointment follows the January 2026 acquisition and recent company expansion in enterprise data management.

Marc Bala, Managing Director at STG, called Giannaros “an exceptional leader with an outstanding track record of driving growth and innovation in capital markets technology businesses,” and highlighted his familiarity with Gresham’s products and customers. Giannaros stated he is “excited to lead Gresham” and intends to apply AI across products and services, adding that STG’s investment will support development of AI-driven capabilities.

Hepsworth will remain engaged with Gresham as a board member. STG and the company expressed appreciation for his leadership and said he will support strategy from the board.

Gresham provides software for data automation and intelligent business processes used by financial institutions for investment operations and regulatory reporting. Giannaros’s prior roles at firms serving large-scale asset managers and enterprise data businesses were cited in the appointment announcement.
