SHOPLINE integrates Splitit for card-linked installments

SHOPLINE will embed Splitit’s card-linked installment technology so merchants can offer installments using consumers’ existing card credit via a plug-in.

SHOPLINE has selected Splitit as its card-linked installment partner and will embed Splitit’s installment technology into the SHOPLINE platform. The integration will allow merchants to offer installment payments that use the available credit on consumers’ existing payment cards.

Splitit’s functionality will be available as a plug-in inside the SHOPLINE platform so merchants can enable installment payments with minimal implementation work. Consumers will be able to split purchases into multiple payments while using their current credit cards, and merchants can present installment options during the shopper journey. SHOPLINE serves more than 700,000 merchants across Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America and the Middle East.

SHOPLINE and Splitit framed the deal in the context of growing cross-border ecommerce and the expansion of direct-to-consumer brands into markets with established credit systems, such as the United States. Merchants selling into mature credit markets increasingly seek payment options that match local consumer habits while keeping transactions on their own branded checkouts.

Card-linked installments let shoppers use credit already available on their payment cards rather than applying for a new loan. Splitit’s technology is designed to offer a one-click, merchant-branded installment option that does not require a separate financing application at checkout.

Splitit said the integration can be used across SHOPLINE commerce tools, including ecommerce storefronts, social commerce channels and point-of-sale integrations, so installment offers can appear at multiple points in the buying process.

John Beisner, Head of Acceptance Partnerships at Splitit, described the integration as placing Splitit’s capability inside a widely used commerce platform and simplifying adoption for merchants. Kimi Gong, General Manager of Payment at SHOPLINE, said embedding Splitit’s installment feature will give merchants another payment option to increase sales and improve conversion.

The agreement extends Splitit’s distribution by making its card-linked installment service available to SHOPLINE merchants through a single platform integration. SHOPLINE is a commerce software-as-a-service platform that offers ecommerce, live commerce, customer engagement and cross-border selling features to brands and retailers.
