Scottish Mortgage Near 1,511p as SpaceX and Anthropic Lift Shares

Scottish Mortgage shares rose from 1,297p in July to about 1,500p and approached the 1,511p resistance level after gains in major holdings SpaceX and Anthropic.

Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust, managed by Baillie Gifford, has seen its share price rise from 1,297p in July to about 1,500p in recent weeks, moving up against a technical resistance level at 1,511p.

The gain follows price recoveries at several large holdings. SpaceX, the trust’s largest position, traded near $153, its highest since July and about 47% above a recent low after an earnings update that showed strength across the company’s divisions. The company’s AI unit is reported to generate billions of dollars in monthly revenue, and Starlink has passed 12 million active subscribers. The update also highlighted rising capital expenditure needs.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. rose to about $440, the highest level since early July, on demand for chips. Nvidia climbed to roughly $225 from a recent low near $189 amid continued demand for AI-related hardware and software. MercadoLibre and Amazon have also improved in recent weeks.

Scottish Mortgage is a significant investor in private technology companies. The trust invested in Anthropic at a reported valuation of $183 billion and holds roughly 2.8% of the company. Analysts estimate an Anthropic IPO could seek a valuation around $2 trillion. Anthropic’s annualized revenue run rate has been reported above $65 billion, and some measures of profitability have appeared.

The trust also holds a large stake in Stripe, a private payments company that is discussed as a potential public listing candidate in coming years, with some market commentary noting 2027 as a possible timeline.

On technical indicators, Scottish Mortgage’s share price has stayed above its 50-day moving average and its Relative Strength Index has risen above 50. Chart analysis using Murrey Math lines places current trading near an “ultimate resistance” at 1,511p; a sustained break above that would put a next technical target at about 1,562p.

Investors and market participants are watching upcoming liquidity events such as a potential Anthropic IPO for their potential to affect the trust’s valuation and net asset value.
