Scalable Capital opens APIs to Claude and ChatGPT
Scalable Capital opened APIs to allow AI agents including Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT to access accounts and execute customer-approved tasks.
Scalable Capital has opened its trading and investment platform to external AI agents, enabling large language models such as Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT to access customer accounts when users grant permission.
The company announced the change this week, stating platform-level access is available through application programming interfaces that external agents can call after clients authenticate and grant consent.
Authorized agents can query portfolio holdings, retrieve market and account data, and execute pre-approved actions on behalf of customers. Scalable Capital requires agents to authenticate and receive explicit consent before accessing customer data or carrying out instructions.
The opening allows third-party chatbots and developer tools to connect directly to the firm’s robo-advisory investment accounts and its retail brokerage services across its European operating markets.
Scalable Capital described controls that limit data exposure: only agents a customer links to an account can view personal or account-level information, and all actions require prior approval. The firm plans to log agent activity and keep records of instructions routed through external models.
Regulatory safeguards remain in place for automated interactions, the company noted, including trade execution rules and reporting requirements. Developers building agents on the platform must meet security and compliance standards and can have access revoked or be required to reauthorize for sensitive actions.
The firm did not disclose commercial terms for partnerships with model providers and said public statements focus on technical access and user controls. Scalable Capital plans to monitor usage, expand developer documentation and strengthen oversight as more agents connect to its APIs.
Regulators and privacy advocates have raised questions about how conversational AI will be governed when linked to financial accounts. The company intends to comply with applicable data-protection laws and financial regulations and to require security and compliance measures from firms that build agents on its platform.
