S&P Global Market Intelligence wins Hedgeweek Data Provider award

S&P Global Market Intelligence won Data Provider of the Year at the Hedgeweek European Awards 2026; it provides real-time, regulatory-aligned data and is developing AI and LLM tools for valuations.

S&P Global Market Intelligence was named Data Provider of the Year at the Hedgeweek European Awards 2026. The firm supplies real-time financial, industry, research and news data to clients including investment professionals, hedge funds, governments, corporations and universities.

Its products support performance tracking, alpha generation, idea sourcing, valuation and credit risk assessment. The company delivers data in formats designed to integrate with client systems and reporting processes.

Nathan Kirk, Managing Director, Head of Business Development – Pricing & Reference Data, described the service as: “S&P Global Market Intelligence delivers precise, real-time insights and regulatory-aligned global data.” He said the tools aim to help clients use the underlying data in their decision processes.

Kirk identified developments in 2025 and 2026 — the return of geopolitical risk, renewed macroeconomic uncertainty and episodes of sustained market volatility — as factors that changed client priorities for timeliness and accuracy.

Hedge funds have asked vendors for data in AI-ready formats and for new AI-enabled products. S&P Global Market Intelligence is building analytics and tools to add context to raw prices and valuations. For fixed-income cash securities and over-the-counter derivatives, planned analytics will show which factors drive valuations. Artificial intelligence and machine learning, including large language models, will be used to extract explanatory information from datasets.

During 2025–26, activity increased in credit-focused strategies, with growth in long-short credit funds using cash instruments and synthetic tools such as credit default swaps. High-yield bonds, leveraged loans, collateralised loan obligations and private credit drew closer scrutiny while institutional investors continued to allocate capital. S&P Global Market Intelligence provided price data, valuations and reference information to support funds operating in these areas.

Regionally, the company reported strongest growth in North America, where large capital markets and sophisticated multi-strategy funds demand rapid delivery of data and valuations. The Middle East and Asia-Pacific also showed growth; the firm adjusts data delivery to reflect local regulatory regimes and differences in investor sophistication. S&P Global Market Intelligence emphasises regulatory alignment in its data to support compliance, reporting, trading and risk decisions.

The Hedgeweek European Awards named the company Data Provider of the Year for 2026.
