Revolut trims workforce in Lithuania amid restructuring

Revolut has cut staff in Lithuania and shifted responsibilities to other jurisdictions as part of a Europe-wide reorganization, the firm confirmed, without disclosing numbers or a timeline.

Revolut has reduced staff at its Lithuanian operations as part of a company-wide reorganization, the firm confirmed. The changes occurred recently and affected roles in back-office, compliance and customer support.

The reductions narrow Revolut’s on-the-ground presence in Lithuania and reallocate responsibilities to other jurisdictions and central teams within the group. The firm did not provide a headcount or a timetable for the transition.

Both permanent employees and contractors were impacted. Some staff were offered alternative positions within the wider organization, while others were dismissed.

Revolut established a significant hub in Lithuania after expanding across Europe, using local teams for payments processing, regulatory compliance and customer support for EU customers. The company said the changes do not amount to an exit from the market.

Industry analysts say digital banks regularly adjust staffing to align resources with product priorities and regulatory requirements in different markets. Revolut has previously adjusted its presence in the region while managing growth and costs.

Employees in Lithuania reported concern about job security and the rapid pace of change. Internal sources indicated that remaining teams may face increased workloads during the transition.

The firm is working to integrate technology and centralize certain back-office functions to reduce duplication, the company added.

The longer-term effect on service levels and the company’s ability to meet regulatory obligations will depend on how quickly responsibilities are reassigned and any operational gaps are filled. Customers and remaining staff may experience temporary disruption until the reorganization is complete.
