Reap, Visa launch stablecoin card in 100+ markets
Reap will issue a Visa-linked card that converts approved dollar-pegged stablecoins into local fiat at point of sale in more than 100 markets for business customers.
Reap and Visa announced a partnership to launch a stablecoin card program that will let users spend approved dollar-pegged stablecoins through Visa’s global payment network in more than 100 markets. The product is aimed at Reap’s business customers and their employees.
Under the arrangement, Reap will issue a card that links customers’ stablecoin balances to Visa’s acceptance network. When a card payment is made, the stablecoin amount is converted into the merchant’s settlement currency at the point of sale and routed through Visa’s processing rails so transactions clear like conventional card payments.
The card will run on Reap’s existing payments infrastructure and integrate with wallets that hold approved stablecoins. Reap expects the product to support corporate use cases including supplier payments, cross-border payouts and expense management for remote teams.
Visa will provide network processing and merchant acceptance. Reap will handle card issuance, wallet integration and customer onboarding. Availability will expand by region as local issuer approvals and regulatory requirements are met.
Regulatory checks include anti-money laundering controls, customer identity verification and any local payments licensing. Reap will notify customers in markets where the card becomes available and provide implementation guidance for treasury and accounting teams to reconcile stablecoin-funded transactions.
Stablecoins are digital tokens pegged to fiat currencies, most commonly the U.S. dollar, and are used for trading, remittance and settlement because they combine rapid transfers on blockchains with price stability. Card programs that convert stablecoins at payment time use intermediary systems to bridge on-chain balances and off-chain payment networks so merchants receive settled fiat through standard card processing.
The rollout will proceed in phases as Reap secures approvals and integrates with local issuing banks and payment partners.
