Qube Research hires former Radiant World metals trader
Qube Research & Technologies has hired Adhitya Sethaputra, former head of refined metals at Radiant World. He is expected to join QRT’s Geneva office in November.
Qube Research & Technologies has appointed Adhitya Sethaputra to its metals trading team. He is expected to join QRT’s Geneva office in November and will work on the fund’s metals trading operation, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Sethaputra most recently served as head of refined metals at Radiant World. At Radiant, the base metals operation was run separately from the firm’s iron ore unit.
Before joining Radiant World, he held senior roles at IXM Holding, including head of aluminium and co-head of refined metals, giving him experience across both refined and base metals markets.
Large multi-strategy hedge funds have been expanding into physical commodities trading and targeting less liquid, specialist segments of regional metals markets such as copper, aluminium and zinc.
Radiant World has faced scrutiny over its iron ore business amid allegations that the company used falsified documents to secure financing. Radiant has denied the allegations and has carried out further job cuts since the claims surfaced.
Qube’s metals desk saw turnover earlier this year when trader Dan Timosenko left the firm’s London office; he is expected to join Millennium Management after completing a non-compete period, according to a person familiar with the matter. Sethaputra’s appointment strengthens Qube’s Geneva desk as the firm builds its commodities capabilities.
