PayTabs to buy Amazon Payments MENA for $100M
Saudi-based PayTabs will acquire Amazon Payments MENA for $100 million, merging the regional payments operations and creating an entity expected to process over SAR 150 billion a year.
PayTabs will acquire Amazon Payments MENA for $100 million. Both companies have approved the transfer of Amazon Payments MENA to the Saudi Arabia-based payments firm PayTabs.
The deal merges Amazon’s Middle East and North Africa payments operations into PayTabs’ existing regional infrastructure. The companies expect the combined business to process more than SAR 150 billion each year.
Both companies expect continuity to be a priority during integration and anticipate minimal disruption for merchants and customers. The transaction is expected to enable faster onboarding for new clients and stronger compliance with local regulations as services move under PayTabs’ management.
Operationally, Amazon Payments MENA will be folded into PayTabs’ payments systems across the region. The parties plan to coordinate the technical and regulatory steps needed to transition services without interrupting payment flows.
PayTabs was founded in Saudi Arabia and provides payment services across the Middle East and North Africa. Amazon Payments MENA processed transactions for Amazon’s regional operations and for sellers on its platform. The $100 million transfer formalizes the handover of those regional payments activities to PayTabs and adds Amazon’s merchant and payment relationships to PayTabs’ customer base.
