Partior and OpenAssets demo atomic settlement of stablecoins

Partior and OpenAssets completed a proof of concept showing atomic delivery‑versus‑payment settlement across digital assets, regulated stablecoins and tokenised bank deposits.

Partior and OpenAssets completed a joint proof of concept that demonstrated atomic delivery‑versus‑payment (DvP) settlement between digital assets, regulated stablecoins and tokenised commercial deposits. The trial executed asset and cash legs in a single transaction so that either both legs settle or neither does, aiming to remove principal and counterparty settlement risk.

OpenAssets’ digital asset infrastructure layer was connected to Partior’s network for tokenised deposits. The integration coordinated transfers from initial asset and stablecoin movement through automated ledger reconciliation to final credit delivery on bank ledgers.

The test showed tokenised commercial bank money on the Partior network can serve as the primary settlement asset between institutions, supporting settlement finality and immediate liquidity movement. Participants achieved interoperable, automated coordination that allowed different asset types to be exchanged in a single atomic transaction.

The proof of concept also demonstrated liquidity flexibility. Institutions could elect to settle or redeem stablecoin obligations in real time on a per‑transaction basis or process redemptions in bulk to match specific corridor needs and liquidity positions. The setup automated reconciliation across ledgers and delivered final credit without manual intervention.

Partior is a bank‑backed global settlement infrastructure platform and OpenAssets provides a digital asset infrastructure layer. The exercise was presented as a technical demonstration of interoperability and settlement mechanics rather than a commercial rollout; the companies did not provide a timeline for wider deployment.

Partior chief executive Humphrey Valenbreder described the collaboration as: “We are excited to partner with OpenAssets to demonstrate a truly scalable path for stablecoins and tokenised deposits interoperability across global banks and markets.” OpenAssets chief executive Gabor Gurbacs added: “Institutions have needed a way to settle tokenised assets against cash without leaving the infrastructure they already rely on. With Partior, we’ve shown how that can work: settling digital assets, stablecoins, and tokenized deposits together on existing infrastructure.”
