Palo Alto Networks stock hits record after price-target bumps

Shares rose to an intraday high after BTIG and Wells Fargo raised targets, citing stronger momentum and demand for AI-driven security and Palo Alto’s CyberArk deal.

Palo Alto Networks shares climbed to a record intraday high on Monday after BTIG and Wells Fargo raised their price targets, citing improving momentum and demand for AI-driven security. The stock reached $368.17 in morning trading before pulling back; it was last reported at $357.50, up about 2.7% for the session.

BTIG increased its target to $380 from $333 and maintained a Buy rating, identifying Palo Alto Networks as a top pick based on stronger momentum and larger deal sizes. The brokerage also named the company one of its preferred “second-half outperformer” stocks alongside On Holding and Capital One. Wells Fargo raised its target to $420 from $325, kept an Overweight rating and added the stock to its tactical ideas list, citing a clear catalyst path for further gains.

Investor interest has centered on enterprise spending for AI-related cybersecurity and Palo Alto Networks’ announced $25 billion agreement to acquire CyberArk. The acquisition is expected to expand the company’s identity-security offerings for human users, machines and agentic AI systems.

Analysts flagged two main risks to the outlook: an elevated valuation that could prompt profit-taking, and the possibility that part of recent growth reflects acquisitions rather than organic expansion. Some analysts also warned that rising momentum can turn the stock into a crowded trade, which may increase volatility if investors unwind positions.

Technical measures show an extended rally. The stock has gained about 79% over the past 12 months and has moved above its prior 52-week high of $358.10. It was trading roughly 40.2% above its 50-day simple moving average of $254.97 and about 76.8% above its 200-day simple moving average of $202.25. The Relative Strength Index stood near 80, a level commonly interpreted as overbought and potentially prone to consolidation or a pullback even while the longer-term trend remains upward. The 50-day moving average sits above the 100-day, and the 50-day crossed above the 200-day in May.

Broader market gains provided support for the move, with the Nasdaq-100 up about 1.37% on Monday.
