Orange Money partners with Adstra on AML tech
Orange Money has signed an anti-money-laundering partnership with Adstra to add transaction-monitoring and reporting tools across its mobile-money platforms.
Orange Money and Adstra announced a partnership to strengthen anti-money-laundering controls across Orange Money’s mobile-payment platforms in the countries where it operates. Adstra will supply compliance software and advisory services to improve detection and reporting of suspicious transactions.
The agreement covers integration of Adstra’s transaction-monitoring systems with Orange Money’s existing infrastructure. The tools will automate alerts on unusual activity, enrich customer risk profiles, support customer due diligence and generate reports for regulators where required.
Rollout will be phased, with initial deployment focused on high-risk corridors and product lines. Work will include system integration, configuration of risk rules to reflect local regulations, training for Orange Money compliance teams and ongoing support and updates to detection models.
Adstra’s platform will use customer data and transaction histories to score risk and trigger case investigations. Automated case management functions are expected to streamline reviews and speed submission of suspicious-activity reports to national authorities.
Regulatory bodies in several African and Middle Eastern countries have increased reporting requirements and scrutiny of payment services as mobile-money transaction volumes grow. The companies framed the partnership as a response to those regulatory expectations.
The firms did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement or provide a precise timeline for full implementation.
