Mizuho Opens Global Capabilities Center in Pune

Mizuho Global Services India Pvt. Ltd., the Global Capabilities Center arm of Mizuho Financial Group, announced the launch of a Global Capabilities Center in Pune to expand technology, operations and shared services supporting the bank’s global corporate and investment banking activities.

The Pune center will join existing hubs in Mumbai and Chennai and form part of Mizuho’s global operating model to scale engineering, operations and service functions across regions. The company said the facility will take on end-to-end responsibilities for critical platforms and services to support enterprise innovation, resilience and a long-term transformation agenda.

The new center will staff roles in technology, operations and business services. Mizuho intends to use India’s talent pool to provide continuous global support, accelerate platform modernization and improve service consistency and quality for its global businesses.

John Buchanan, deputy head of Global Corporate & Investment Banking and chief information and chief operations officer for Mizuho Americas, commented: “Pune gives us the ability to take end to end ownership of critical platforms, accelerate modernization, and deliver with the kind of consistency and discipline a global financial institution demands.”

The Pune site will focus on technology platforms, operational processes and shared services that support Mizuho’s worldwide banking operations. Combining the Pune operations with those in Mumbai and Chennai will allow the firm to distribute work across locations while maintaining centralized ownership of key systems.

Mizuho Financial Group is one of the world’s large banking groups. Its Global Capabilities Center arm manages offshore and nearshore technology and operations for the group. The Pune launch follows a trend of international banks expanding capability centers in India to access engineering and operations talent and to support round-the-clock operations.
