Mintos adds 1,000+ UCITS ETFs with EUR1 minimum
Mintos now offers more than 1,000 UCITS ETFs with no transaction or custody fees and a EUR1 minimum; CEO Martins Sulte says growth depends on distribution and lowering barriers.
Mintos has listed over 1,000 UCITS-compliant exchange-traded funds from issuers including iShares, Vanguard and VanEck on its platform, offering zero transaction fees, no custody charges and a EUR1 minimum. The change is part of the platform’s recent push into ETFs alongside its existing bonds and fractional loan products.
The offering is intended to lower entry costs and give retail investors a simple way to start investing with small amounts. Mintos began in Latvia as a fractional loan investment platform and has expanded its product range while competing with larger digital brokers in Europe.
Martins Sulte, Mintos CEO and co-founder, said: “A surprising number of Europeans still think you need a large lump sum or a certain level of financial sophistication before you can start. That is why with the EUR1 minimum we want to make it clear to our customers that there is no threshold, they can invest what they have, when they have it.”
Sulte highlighted behavioural barriers to broader ETF adoption and described digital platforms as able to combine access, onboarding, education, automation and recurring investing in one interface. He pointed to automatic savings plans and simple user flows as ways platforms can turn interest into a first investment and then into a regular habit.
He also noted that fintech platforms are unlikely to replace banks and asset managers for institutional and high-net-worth distribution. Human advice is expected to remain part of financial decisions at major life events such as retirement planning, inheritance management and complex financial situations.
On investor behaviour, Sulte observed that many users automate routine contributions while keeping active decision-making for higher-conviction bets. He said seeing a portfolio grow on autopilot can give investors confidence to make further choices.
Mintos’s fee-free, low-minimum list follows a wider industry pattern of reducing cost and access barriers for ETFs. The company says it aims to attract younger and first-time investors by simplifying subscription requirements and combining trading with education and automated plans.
