Millennium Hires Tomiyuki Oji as Senior Japan PM
Millennium Management hired Tomiyuki Oji, formerly Nomura’s Asia-Pacific head of index flow derivatives, as a senior portfolio manager in Tokyo to bolster its Japan equities team.
Millennium Management has hired Tomiyuki Oji as a senior portfolio manager in Tokyo, expanding the hedge fund’s equities operation in Japan.
Oji most recently worked at Nomura’s brokerage business as Asia-Pacific head of index flow derivatives trading. His LinkedIn profile shows he has joined Millennium. A Millennium representative declined to comment on the appointment.
Before Nomura, Oji spent about 15 years at Goldman Sachs’ Japanese securities business. At both firms he focused on equity derivatives trading, including index flow and structured equity products used in institutional trading and portfolio management.
The hire follows another senior Tokyo appointment. In July, Masaya Imabuchi, previously a manager at Mizuho Securities, joined Millennium as a senior portfolio manager. The two additions increase the firm’s local trading and portfolio management capacity in Japan.
Millennium Management operates as a multi-strategy hedge fund with offices globally. Oji will be part of the Tokyo equities team, managing positions across cash equities and derivatives and supporting the firm’s Japan-focused trading and investment activities.
