Millennium hires ex-Goldman energy trading chief in Jersey

Millennium Management has hired Emmanuel Clair as a senior commodities portfolio manager in Jersey. Clair joined the firm after two years running his own commodities investment business, Dolment Advisors.

Clair spent about a decade at Goldman Sachs, becoming head of London energy trading and global head of crude oil derivatives. Before Goldman he worked for eight years at EDF, where he led power options and structured products trading. He holds a PhD in quantitative hydrology.

Millennium’s Jersey office remains relatively small. The firm has considered expanding the office as an alternative location for portfolio managers who do not want to relocate to the UAE amid geopolitical tensions. Clair’s appointment adds senior energy trading experience to the Jersey team.

Millennium did not provide details on Clair’s specific day-to-day responsibilities or whether the firm will expand its Jersey presence. No further details were disclosed.
