L&T Finance taps Pine Labs protocol for agentic commerce
L&T Finance will add Pine Labs’ payments protocol and an Agentic Storefront to its PLANET app so autonomous AI agents can book flights and complete transactions.
L&T Finance Ltd. will integrate Pine Labs Ltd.’s payments protocol and an Agentic Storefront into its PLANET app to allow autonomous AI agents to complete transactions for customers, beginning with flight ticket bookings, the companies announced at Global Fintech Fest 2026.
L&T Finance is a non-banking financial company in India and Pine Labs is a payments technology provider. Under the partnership, Pine Labs will provide protocol and trust-layer tools while L&T Finance will embed the Agentic Storefront in its PLANET app.
The integration is designed so users can authorise an AI agent inside the PLANET app to search, compare and pay for services while operating within set security and governance limits. Agents will take customer intent and execute end-to-end transactions that follow bank and merchant rules.
Flight bookings are the initial commercial use case. The companies said they plan to expand agent-enabled transactions to additional merchant categories as more merchants are integrated.
Manish Kumar Gupta, chief executive — Urban Unsecured Assets, Payments & Digital Partnerships at L&T Finance, said the project aims to enable autonomous AI agents that operate securely within user-defined guardrails. Sanjeev Kumar, chief technology officer at Pine Labs, described the company’s role as building a trust infrastructure using P3P and the Grantex protocol to allow buyer and seller agents to transact securely and with an audit trail.
According to the companies, Pine Labs’ protocols will handle the secure transfer of payment instructions between agents and merchants while preserving auditability. The PLANET app will host an Agentic Storefront interface where users set permissions and guardrails for agents to follow.
Industry observers say wider adoption will depend on user trust, regulatory clarity and merchant integration. L&T Finance and Pine Labs said their governance framework and standardized transaction protocols are intended to address those concerns.
The announcement at Global Fintech Fest 2026 marks the public debut of the two companies’ technical and commercial collaboration on agent-enabled payments. The rollout begins with travel and will be extended to other categories as the partners add merchant integrations.
