LexisNexis, Promon partner to fight mobile app fraud
LexisNexis will ingest Promon’s runtime app-protection signals into its fraud and identity systems to detect tampering and protect mobile banking and payment apps.
LexisNexis and Promon have formed a partnership to integrate Promon’s mobile app protection telemetry into LexisNexis’s fraud detection and identity decisioning platforms. The companies stated the integration will supply device and app integrity signals to help detect compromised or manipulated apps used in mobile banking, payments and other app channels.
Under the agreement, Promon’s runtime application self-protection (RASP) and app-shielding technology will deliver signals about app and device state. Promon’s protection runs inside customer-facing apps as an SDK or embedded component, monitors runtime behavior and reports anomalies such as tampering, repackaging, emulation, debugging or injected code.
LexisNexis will combine those signals with identity, transaction and device intelligence. The combined data can be used to flag high-risk sessions, require step-up authentication or block suspicious activity in real time, the companies stated.
The partnership is aimed at banks, payment providers, fintechs, e-commerce companies and other organisations that rely on mobile apps for customer access and transactions. Promon’s tools report conditions such as rooted or jailbroken devices, instrumentation by debugging tools, virtualized environments and attempts to modify app code; those integrity signals feed into LexisNexis’s decisioning models.
The firms said the integration is intended to be compatible with existing mobile deployments so customers do not need to rebuild core app functionality. For organisations already using LexisNexis for identity verification and fraud analytics, Promon signals are intended to provide an additional input to automated workflows and fraud scoring.
No pricing or rollout timeline has been disclosed. Company statements framed the partnership as a response to growing fraud activity on mobile channels, where server-side systems can miss in-app manipulation. LexisNexis provides risk management, identity verification and fraud detection services. Promon specialises in mobile application security and runtime protection.
