Latin America Leads in Digital Payments Adoption

Rodrigo Silva, president of Temenos Americas, said at the Temenos Community Forum that Latin American countries lead in digital adoption and must make payment experiences seamless.

Rodrigo Silva, president of Temenos Americas, addressed banking and payment trends at the Temenos Community Forum and identified seamless user experiences as the region’s next priority after rapid digital uptake.

Silva described Latin America as a broad market made up of countries with different regulatory and commercial approaches. He said the region shares a consistently young population that has driven fast adoption of mobile banking and digital payment services.

According to Silva, regulatory and commercial differences create varied market conditions across countries. Providers, he said, need to adapt strategies for each market rather than apply a single model across the region.

He pointed to widespread experimentation with app-based banking, instant payments and other digital services as evidence of the region’s progress in payments and overall digital adoption.

Silva did not provide specific product roadmaps or implementation timelines during the session.

His remarks formed part of wider forum discussions on how banks and technology firms should respond to changing customer expectations in Latin America.
