Ken Griffin gives $5M to House super PAC

Ken Griffin donated $5 million on May 1 to the Congressional Leadership Fund, his first federal contribution of the 2026 election cycle to the Republican-aligned super PAC.

Federal Election Commission filings show Ken Griffin gave $5 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund on May 1. The contribution is the first federal donation tied to Griffin for the 2026 election cycle. The CLF is the principal independent expenditure group supporting Republican candidates for the U.S. House.

The donation joins a series of early, large gifts from finance-sector donors ahead of the 2026 midterms. Filings show Howard Lutnick, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, gave $5 million to the same group in April, and Jeff Yass, founder of Susquehanna International Group, donated $2 million.

Griffin has been an active federal donor for years. Since 2015 he has contributed more than $285 million to federal candidates and committees, including over $108 million during the 2024 cycle. He has directed more than $60 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund since 2016 and has supported Senate campaigns such as David McCormick in Pennsylvania and Tim Sheehy in Montana.

Griffin has publicly addressed tax, regulatory and competitiveness issues while building his political giving. Citadel warned it could scale back parts of a planned New York expansion after New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani posted a video outside Griffin’s Midtown Manhattan penthouse about a proposed pied-à-terre tax on luxury second homes. Griffin has said he intends to expand further in Miami. He has met with President Donald Trump at the White House and donated to Trump’s 2025 inauguration committee, while not offering a formal endorsement of Trump’s presidential campaign.

Federal filings show the May 1 gift is Griffin’s first recorded federal contribution for the 2026 cycle and places him among top donors making early donations to House-focused political spending.
