June: Global Crypto ETPs See $4.31B Outflows
Global crypto ETPs recorded $4.31 billion of outflows in June, trimming assets under management to $108.6 billion from $141.1 billion in May; US-listed bitcoin products led redemptions.
According to data from TrackInsight and CoinDesk Indices, global crypto exchange-traded products posted $4.31 billion of net outflows in June, reducing total assets under management to $108.6 billion from $141.1 billion in May. The CoinDesk 20 Index fell 21.2% in June, reflecting broad declines across large- and mid-cap digital assets.
Bitcoin-linked ETPs accounted for the bulk of withdrawals, registering about $4.06 billion of net outflows and leaving bitcoin category AUM at $86.9 billion. US-listed vehicles were the main source of redemptions, producing roughly $4.46 billion of outflows for the month while non-US markets showed a mixed picture with some domiciles drawing inflows.
Ether-linked products recorded net outflows of $348.1 million, ending June with $11.4 billion in AUM. Diversified multi-asset baskets returned to inflows, adding $79.3 million and bringing that category’s AUM to $1.95 billion. Altcoin-focused products posted net inflows for a third consecutive month, led by the new Hyperliquid staking ETFs. The Grayscale Hyperliquid Staking ETF attracted $125.2 million and the Bitwise Hyperliquid ETF drew $61.7 million, a combined $186.9 million. XRP-linked products added $120.0 million (AUM $2.01 billion) and Solana products added $19.8 million (AUM $2.14 billion).
By region, the Americas saw about $4.35 billion of net outflows driven by US-listed products, while Canada recorded $114.2 million of inflows. Europe absorbed roughly $49.7 million, with Switzerland adding $83.1 million, Jersey $40.2 million and Liechtenstein $6.0 million, partly offset by outflows in Ireland ($65.0 million) and Germany ($13.7 million). The Asia-Pacific region recorded modest net outflows of $12.4 million, with Hong Kong showing the largest regional redemptions and Australia posting $5.8 million of inflows.
Currency-denominated flows mirrored geography: USD-denominated products had $4.45 billion of net outflows and held $102.1 billion in AUM. Canadian-dollar products added $128.8 million, SEK-denominated products added $10.2 million, AUD products added $5.8 million, and EUR-denominated products recorded $6.2 million of outflows.
Trading and derivatives metrics for June showed global open interest on centralized exchanges fell 25.2% to $81.2 billion, while combined centralized exchange spot and derivatives volumes rose 13.0% to $4.99 trillion.
Top gaining ETPs by net flows in June included the Volatility Shares 2x Bitcoin Strategy ETF (+$169.0 million, AUM $787.3 million), the Grayscale Hyperliquid Staking ETF (+$125.2 million, AUM $127.0 million), and the Hashdex Nasdaq Crypto Index US ETF (+$111.3 million, AUM $189.9 million), among others.
