Jain Global made $1.8bn before shifting to Millennium

Jain Global posted about $1.8bn in gross trading profits in its first two years and will return outside capital to manage funds exclusively for Millennium.

Jain Global generated about $1.8 billion in gross trading profits in its first two years managing external capital and has agreed to return all outside investor funds to manage money solely for Millennium, with Millennium replacing more than $5 billion of that capital, according to people familiar with the arrangement.

The firm launched on July 1, 2024, after Bobby Jain left Credit Suisse; Jain previously spent almost two decades at Credit Suisse and seven years at Millennium. Jain Global raised $5.3 billion at inception and operates as a New York-based multi-strategy firm with offices in London, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Gross gains since launch equal roughly 34% of the capital raised, while outside investors received about 8.4% in net returns over the same period. Performance improved over time: the fund returned about 0.5% in its first six months after launching, posted a 3.7% return in 2025, and is up roughly 4% so far this year. Based on capital that was actually called and deployed, gross returns since inception are estimated at about 41%.

It took roughly 20 months to fully deploy the initial capital as the firm recruited portfolio managers and built out its trading operation. Those limits on capacity and staffing affected the pace of scaling and the timing of returns for outside investors.

Under an agreement reached in April, Jain Global will return all external investor capital by the end of September and transition to managing Millennium’s allocation exclusively while remaining operationally independent. The firm will continue to operate with its current workforce, balance sheet and offices. Millennium’s allocation to Jain Global could increase if the firm expands its investment capacity.

Jain Global’s Strategic Transactions Fund, managed by Syril Pathmanathan, will continue to manage external investor capital.

Millennium, which manages about $92 billion, has provided capital to portfolio managers launching independent businesses and allocated to established external hedge funds. The arrangement with Jain Global follows similar agreements in which outside capital was returned and managers focused on managing Millennium’s money.
