Interac adds Incode deepfake, liveness checks in Canada
Interac will integrate Incode’s iBeta Level 3 passive liveness and deepfake and injection-attack detection into Interac Verified, with exclusive Canadian rights and phased rollout from Q3 2026.
Interac Corp. has partnered with Incode Technologies to add iBeta Level 3 passive liveness checks and deepfake and injection-attack detection to the Interac Verified document verification service. Interac will hold exclusive Canadian rights to the Incode technology and plans a phased rollout starting in Q3 2026.
The integration includes passive liveness detection validated to iBeta Level 3 on both iOS and Android devices. It also brings an intelligence layer called Deepsight that runs multiple detection tests to identify AI-generated images or video, virtual camera feeds and signs of device tampering.
Businesses that use Interac Verified can opt in to receive fraud network intelligence, sharing network-level risk signals across participating organizations to help spot emerging patterns.
Interac described the enhancements as a way to expand high-assurance identity checks to more businesses at lower cost, covering digital account openings, customer onboarding, credit applications and other higher-risk transactions. Data residency will default to Canada.
Fatema Pirone, Head of Verification at Interac, described the upgrades as designed to “deliver higher assurance and faster outcomes in a cost-efficient way,” saying they will let businesses approve legitimate customers faster while identifying bad actors earlier.
Ricardo Amper, founder and CEO of Incode Technologies, stated the collaboration pairs identity verification with advanced defenses against deepfakes, injection attacks and other impersonation methods to increase assurance for Canadian businesses.
Interac noted that Incode is the first vendor to reach iBeta’s highest level of identity-security testing with zero errors. Interac added that combining those technical controls with its system-level view and privacy-protective signals is intended to support digital verification across Canada.
The new capabilities will be introduced in stages, targeting availability across Canada in Q3 2026. Interac described the arrangement as offering an accessible price point for organizations that need higher-assurance identity checks while seeking to avoid extra friction for legitimate users.
