ICE launches private credit reference dataset

Intercontinental Exchange has launched a private credit reference data service to standardize loan- and facility-level information for pricing, benchmarking and risk analysis.

Intercontinental Exchange has launched a private credit reference dataset through its data arm that consolidates loan- and facility-level information for investors and asset managers.

The dataset pools inputs from lenders, servicers, asset managers and other market participants, applies common identifiers and normalised fields, and standardises transaction-level records outside the syndicated loan market.

Content in the reference set will cover facility terms, covenant details, payment schedules, interest and fee structures, origination and maturity dates, and performance indicators such as payment status and default history. The dataset is designed to support valuation, portfolio monitoring, stress testing and regulatory reporting.

Distribution will use ICE’s existing channels, including direct feeds and application programming interfaces so clients can integrate the data into trading, risk and accounting systems. ICE plans to link the private credit dataset with its pricing and analytics services to allow comparison of private instruments against broader market benchmarks.

The company said demand for clearer, more consistent private credit data has come from asset managers, insurers, banks and collateral managers as allocations to private credit have grown. Many private credit instruments are negotiated bilaterally and have limited public disclosure, creating a need for harmonised terms and event reporting.

Industry participants operating collateralised loan obligations, direct lending funds and other private credit structures have sought more infrastructure and data standards as regulators and investors increase scrutiny of valuation and reserve practices. ICE presented the dataset as a way to reduce operational friction when onboarding assets and to provide standardised contract and performance views across portfolios.

Intercontinental Exchange operates exchanges, clearing houses and data services globally. Over the past decade institutional allocations to private credit have expanded, prompting providers and market utilities to build tools aimed at standardising reporting and improving comparability across private lending products.
