Hovland Leads by One at Tour Championship Final Round

Viktor Hovland holds a one-shot lead at East Lake Golf Course as the Tour Championship reaches its final round. The 28-year-old Norwegian sits at 13-under, one stroke ahead of a group at 12-under.

The group trailing Hovland includes Ryan Gerard, Adam Scott, Ludvig Aberg, Chris Gotterup and world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. Gerard, 27, who has one PGA Tour victory at the Barracuda Championship, is the closest pursuer on the leaderboard.

Rory McIlroy climbed the leaderboard on Moving Day by carding a 7-under 65 on Saturday, moving into a tie for seventh. Hovland posted a 5-under round on Saturday to maintain his advantage.

The field was reduced to 29 players after J.J. Spaun withdrew. The event at East Lake determines the season finale payoffs: the champion will receive $10 million, the runner-up $5 million and the last-place finisher will earn just over $335,000. The tournament’s total payout is $40 million.

Market odds assigned by Polymarket show Hovland with about a 37% chance of winning, while Gerard and Scheffler each sit near 18%.

Hovland has eight PGA Tour victories, two European Tour wins and won the 2023 PGA Championship. He is ranked 15th in the Official World Golf Ranking and has surpassed $43 million in official PGA Tour earnings.

Scottie Scheffler has earned more than $20 million this season after recording two victories. Other leading season earners include Cameron Young, Matt Fitzpatrick and Wyndham Clark.

Several players are within one or two shots of the lead as the final 18 holes begin at East Lake, and the tournament will determine the Tour Championship winner and the season-ending payouts.
