HANetf launches WEEK, Europe’s first weekly‑paying ETF
HANetf has launched WEEK, a UCITS ETF aiming to pay weekly income by combining global equity exposure with an actively managed covered‑call overlay and a 0.50% TER.
HANetf has launched the Weekly World Income UCITS ETF (ticker: WEEK), an ETF designed to make distributions every week. The fund charges a total expense ratio of 0.50% and pairs broad global equity holdings with an actively managed options overlay that uses covered calls and call spreads.
The ETF will invest across regions and sectors to offer diversified exposure. HANetf cited areas of focus including AI-related capital expenditure in North America, technology hardware manufacturers in Asia and structural shifts in Europe such as energy security, industrials and defence. The options overlay is intended to generate additional income alongside the portfolio’s potential for capital growth.
HANetf said weekly payouts may give investors more flexibility over when and how to use investment income. In its announcement the firm wrote: “By making distributions every week, it may offer greater flexibility over how and when that income is used-whether to help meet everyday expenses, fund leisure activities or provide an additional source of cash flow.” Aura ETFs, the fund sponsor, noted that covered‑call strategies have grown in popularity with investors seeking income and lower volatility.
HANetf provided market data to contextualise demand for options‑based strategies. It said that in 2025 about 25% of roughly 1,100 new US ETF launches used options as a core component, adding to a US universe of around 800 option ETFs representing more than USD 250 billion in assets. In Europe, HANetf reported options‑based ETFs account for over USD 11 billion in assets and recorded net flows of USD 806 million in August.
The firm also cited retail flows in Germany: estimates from Finfluencer Analytics put flows into regular income strategies at about EUR 2 billion in the year ending May 31, with an average allocation of EUR 7,587 per investor. HANetf added that German retail investors allocate a large share of their ETF assets to global equity exposure.
Hector McNeil, co‑founder and co‑CEO of HANetf, commented: “We are delighted to announce the launch of the Weekly World Equity Income UCITS ETF (ticker: WEEK).” He said the fund combines diversified global equity exposure with an actively managed covered‑call overlay aimed at generating additional income and that demand exists in Europe for more frequent distributions.
The fund adds another option for investors seeking income from equity strategies that use options overlays. Investors should consider the trade‑offs of covered‑call approaches, including potential limits on upside participation during strong market rallies, together with the fund’s fees and objectives when assessing suitability.
