Generali Investments to launch active ETFs across Europe
Generali Investments will introduce its first actively managed ETFs for European investors later this year and will establish a dedicated ICAV in the second half of the year.
Generali Investments will introduce its first actively managed exchange-traded funds to investors across Europe later this year. The firm plans to set up a branded, Irish-domiciled ICAV in the second half of the year to host the new products.
The initial range will cover equities and fixed income and will draw on selected investment capabilities from Generali Investments’ platform. Investment management for the ETFs will be delegated to platform affiliates, with Generali Asset Management, Global Evolution, Sycomore AM and Plenisfer involved in the first phase. The products are planned for listing on selected European exchanges to enable regional distribution to institutional investors.
Generali said the first tranche of ETFs will appear later this year, with further launches involving additional platform affiliates scheduled throughout 2027.
The ICAV will centralise the ETF offerings to support cross-border distribution. The funds are being structured as actively managed ETFs while keeping standard ETF features such as transparency, liquidity and intra-day pricing. Management will remain delegated to specialist affiliates on the platform under the branded vehicle.
Filippo Casagrande, Chief of Investments at Generali Investments, commented that the plan draws on the group’s active management experience to provide a range of ETF strategies for institutional clients during ongoing macroeconomic uncertainty. Renato Zaffuto, Head of ETF Solutions, added that the firm will use complementary capabilities from its platform companies to offer selected strategies within the ETF format.
