Generali Investments to launch active ETFs across Europe
Generali Investments will set up a branded ICAV and roll out active equity and fixed-income ETFs across Europe in H2, with investment management delegated to platform affiliates.
Generali Investments will launch its first active exchange-traded funds for investors across Europe in the second half of the year. The firm will establish a dedicated branded ICAV and list the ETFs on selected European exchanges for regional distribution.
The initial offering will include active strategies across equities and fixed income. Generali Investments said it will delegate portfolio management to firms on its platform, drawing on their specialised capabilities for specific strategies.
Generali named four affiliates that will take part in the first phase: Generali Asset Management, Global Evolution, Sycomore AM and Plenisfer. Each affiliate will be responsible for investment management of the strategies assigned to it under the Generali Investments product range.
Additional active ETF launches with other platform affiliates are planned to roll out throughout 2027. The firm said the ETF structures will combine active management approaches with typical ETF features such as transparency, liquidity and intra-day pricing.
Filippo Casagrande, Chief of Investments at Generali Investments, described the programme as ‘building on our longstanding active management expertise to deliver an innovative range of ETF strategies to our institutional investors’ and framed the launch as part of the platform’s response to client needs amid macroeconomic uncertainty.
Renato Zaffuto, Head of ETF Solutions at Generali Investments, added that the platform will use complementary capabilities across its firms to offer a diversified ETF range that pairs selected active strategies with the structural benefits of ETFs.
The move expands Generali Investments’ product set into the ETF segment, aligning with a broader industry pattern of wrapping active strategies in ETF formats to expand distribution and enable intraday trading.
