FTSE Russell, 21shares align digital asset indexes

FTSE Russell and 21shares formed a partnership to standardize benchmarks for 21shares ETPs in the US, Europe and Australia. Select US single-asset ETFs will adopt FTSE Russell indices on 27 Aug 2026.

FTSE Russell and 21shares announced a partnership to standardize the benchmark index framework for 21shares’ exchange-traded products across the United States, Europe and Australia. Selected US-listed single-asset ETFs will move to FTSE Russell digital asset indices at market open on 27 August 2026. The affected US tickers are ARKB (21shares Bitcoin ETF) to the FTSE Bitcoin Index, TETH (21shares Ethereum ETF) to the FTSE Ethereum Index, TSOL (21shares Solana ETF) to the FTSE Solana Index, TOXR (21shares XRP ETF) to the FTSE XRP Index, TSUI (21shares Sui ETF) to the FTSE Sui Index, TDOG (21shares Dogecoin ETF) to the FTSE Dogecoin Index and TDOT (21shares Polkadot ETF) to the FTSE Polkadot Index.

The agreement establishes a single pricing and governance framework for 21shares ETPs. Both firms said the change is an infrastructure upgrade only: underlying asset exposures, fund legal structures, custodians, primary exchange listings and fee schedules will remain unchanged for the affected products. FTSE Russell’s pricing vetting methods will be used to capture market prices from active buyers and sellers. Transitions are being implemented on a prospective basis so historical performance and net asset value data remain a single, continuous record for investors.

The US rollout follows a transition completed in March 2026, when 21shares moved its core European and Australian ETPs for bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana onto FTSE Russell benchmarks. FTSE Russell indices cover roughly USD20 trillion in assets globally, including benchmarks such as the Russell 2000 and the FTSE 100. 21shares noted that global crypto ETP and ETF assets exceed USD106 billion and said the partnership aims to provide a consistent benchmark framework for institutional allocators, pension funds and wealth managers.

Duncan Moir, president at 21shares, noted: ‘FTSE Russell has extensive index coverage and governance. Extending that coverage to more crypto ETPs gives institutional investors a consistent benchmark framework.’ Fiona Bassett, chief executive of FTSE Russell, added: ‘We aim to provide rules-based benchmarks and governance to bring more transparency and confidence to investors in digital asset markets.’
