Finby integrates Wero for pan-European e-commerce payments

Finby has added Wero, an EPI account-to-account payment solution backed by 18 banks and used by more than 57 million people in Belgium, France and Germany.

Finby has deployed Wero as a payment option for its e-commerce merchants, enabling instant account-to-account bank transfers at online checkout. The company announced the rollout for its online merchant customers and said the option is available immediately.

Wero is a product of the European Payments Initiative and is supported by 18 leading banks and payment providers, with more than 50 financial institutions participating in the initiative. The solution already serves over 57 million users in Belgium, France and Germany and has begun extending into e-commerce to process instant transfers between payer and payee bank accounts.

The integration lets consumers pay directly from their bank accounts without routing funds through card networks or other intermediaries. Finby, a European payment service provider and acquirer, said the option is intended for merchants operating across European markets and for consumers who prefer direct bank payments.

Finby positioned the deployment as part of its longer-term strategy to add local payment methods and expand cross-border payment capabilities. The company said it will continue to add regional payment options and expand support for merchants selling in multiple European countries.

David Rintel, finby chief executive, described Wero as the future of European digital payments and added the firm is proud to offer the new payment experience to merchants and their customers. Martina Weimert, chief executive of EPI, welcomed finby’s adoption and noted that broader merchant availability will increase access to a competitive European payment solution offering speed, convenience and security.

EPI is continuing to onboard institutions and expand Wero beyond its initial markets as it targets wider adoption in online commerce. Finby said the deployment is part of its payments offering and will be made available to its e-commerce merchant base immediately.
