Fidelity launches Equity Enhanced Yield ETF range

Fidelity International launched two UCITS ETFs that combine active equity portfolios with a systematic options overlay to generate additional income while retaining equity exposure.

Fidelity International has launched an Equity Enhanced Yield ETF range, introducing the Fidelity Global Equity Enhanced Yield UCITS ETF and the Fidelity US Equity Enhanced Yield UCITS ETF.

The funds pair actively managed equity portfolios with a systematic options overlay that sells index call options to generate premium income. The equity sleeves draw on Fidelity’s global fundamental research for stock selection and portfolio construction within a risk-management framework.

Each ETF will receive USD 5 million of seed capital from authorised market participant Susquehanna. The funds are structured as UCITS vehicles to allow distribution across European markets.

Fidelity says environmental, social and governance factors are considered when assessing investment risks and opportunities in the equity portfolios.

The firm describes the options overlay as rules-based and implemented systematically rather than through discretionary trading. Premiums from selling calls are intended to provide an additional income stream and may help moderate losses during market declines, while also limiting upside if markets rally.

Neil Davies, Head of ETFs at Fidelity International, commented that the range provides access to Fidelity’s bottom-up equity research in a systematic format and that a rules-based options strategy aims to add income. Vincent Li, Head of Derivatives at Fidelity International, added that the approach uses a disciplined framework to select and implement index call options with the goal of generating consistent additional income while maintaining meaningful participation in equity markets.
