Fasanara names Darran Specter head of quant equity

Fasanara Capital, the London-based asset manager with about $6 billion in assets under management, has named Dr Darran Specter, CFA, Head of Quant Equity on its Open Quant multi-manager platform.

Specter joins from Brevan Howard, where he served two years as Senior Portfolio Strategist. He previously spent more than 11 years at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, managing multi-billion-dollar allocations to systematic hedge fund strategies.

At Fasanara, Specter will work with Vinicius Karam, Managing Director and Head of Fasanara Quant, focusing on sourcing and evaluating emerging quantitative equity managers and on portfolio construction for the Open Quant platform.

His remit includes integrating selected managers into the platform and contributing to portfolio construction processes. The role is part of Fasanara’s quantitative investment group, which combines research, technology and multi-manager distribution.

Fasanara has increased investment in quantitative research, technology and investment infrastructure as it expands its quantitative offerings.
