European ETFs net €8.65bn inflows in week to Aug. 28
European-listed ETFs and ETPs drew €8.65bn in net inflows in the week to Aug. 28, led by equity funds (€5.78bn) and gold ETPs (€2.05bn), Trackinsight data show.
European-listed exchange-traded funds and exchange-traded products recorded €8.65 billion of net inflows in the seven days to Aug. 28, 2026, according to data from Trackinsight. Equity funds were the main destination for new capital, while gold ETPs also attracted large allocations.
Equity ETFs received €5.78 billion during the week. Commodities gathered €2.01 billion in net inflows and fixed income products added €731.6 million. Cryptocurrency ETPs attracted €119.3 million and multi-asset products saw net inflows of €6.0 million over the same period.
At the sector level, Information Technology led with €92.9 million of inflows, followed by Materials (€71.4 million), Financials (€49.7 million) and Utilities (€40.2 million). Industrials, Real Estate and Energy recorded smaller net purchases. Health Care posted the largest sector outflow at €24.9 million and Communication Services saw an outflow of €12.1 million.
Sector returns were mixed. Communication Services rose 1.99% for the week, Information Technology gained 1.55% and Financials increased 0.95%. Energy was down 1.68%, Health Care fell 1.47% and Real Estate declined 0.72%.
By regional focus, world equity ETFs took in €1.79 billion and developed-market products €1.71 billion. Europe-focused ETFs added €1.01 billion and U.S.-focused funds attracted €712.4 million. Emerging-market equity ETFs drew €192.4 million and Switzerland-focused funds added €133.5 million. China-focused ETFs recorded the largest regional outflow at €218.2 million, while Asia Pacific, Nordic countries and Sweden also saw net redemptions.
Country-level performance was varied. Vietnam led with a 6.28% gain, Taiwan rose 4.80% and Saudi Arabia gained 3.14%. The Philippines fell 4.71%, Greater China declined 2.83% and Romania lost 2.74%.
Thematic flows highlighted continued demand for cryptocurrency and transition-related strategies. Cryptocurrency-themed products attracted €134.1 million, Net Zero 2050 strategies €88.3 million, Electrification €69.4 million and Blockchain €68.3 million. China Disruptive Technology recorded the largest thematic outflow at €162.9 million, followed by Strategic Metals (€50.4 million), Europe Defense (€46.1 million) and Cybersecurity (€30.0 million). Cloud Computing led thematic performance with a 4.52% gain; Cryptocurrency rose 4.26% and Cybersecurity gained 4.10%. Space was the weakest theme, down 5.38%.
In fixed income, corporate investment grade ETFs were the largest net recipients with €463.3 million. Government investment grade products added €117.7 million, government aggregate ETFs €89.3 million and government agencies investment grade €62.8 million. Aggregate investment grade funds recorded net outflows of €185.3 million and corporate high yield ETFs lost €46.8 million.
Gold dominated commodity flows with €2.05 billion of inflows. Silver drew €34.7 million and corn €9.3 million, while palladium and platinum saw modest inflows. Crude oil registered the largest commodity outflow at €44.1 million, followed by agriculture and sugar.
In cryptocurrency ETPs, Bitcoin products led with €90.2 million of inflows and Ether ETPs added €20.2 million. Hyperliquid received €10.3 million, while multi-cryptocurrency products recorded a €10.0 million outflow. Smaller single-asset tokens such as Morpho and Chainlink saw modest net inflows.
By issuer, iShares led with €1.90 billion of net inflows, followed by Amundi (€1.82 billion) and Vanguard (€1.48 billion). UBS, Invesco, Xtrackers by DWS and State Street were also among the top recipients. The most purchased ETPs included an Invesco U.S. Treasury Bond 1–3 Year ETF (€642.6 million), Amundi Physical Gold ETC (€563.0 million) and the Vanguard FTSE All‑World UCITS ETF (€552.1 million).
Top-performing equity ETFs for the week included a WisdomTree cybersecurity fund (+8.19%), a Vietnam-focused Xtrackers product (+6.28%) and a WisdomTree cloud computing ETF (+6.13%). Other strong performers covered cybersecurity, nuclear energy and Taiwan equity exposures.
