euNetworks, Adtran Launch Quantum Shield Quantum-Safe Link
euNetworks and Adtran announced Quantum Shield, a Layer-1 quantum-safe private link using Adtran’s FSP3000 with NIST-aligned post-quantum encryption and real-time fiber monitoring across Europe.
euNetworks and Adtran announced Quantum Shield, a quantum-safe private connectivity service that will operate across euNetworks’ pan-European network. The offering combines Adtran’s FSP3000 optical transport platform with Layer-1 encryption aligned to NIST post-quantum guidance and real-time fiber monitoring.
Quantum Shield will be available as an add-on to euNetworks’ Private Connect MOFN managed network. The service uses dedicated fiber for data center interconnect (DCI), encrypts traffic at the optical layer and provides continuous optical-layer visibility to detect and locate potential fiber-tapping events.
Adtran’s FSP3000 platform, which includes S-Flex technology, supports high-capacity encrypted DCI links with low latency and high throughput. Encryption is implemented with post-quantum cryptographic algorithms aligned to NIST guidance. The system is designed for crypto-agility so operators can update algorithms as standards evolve. The deployment also integrates Adtran’s automated fiber monitoring (ALM) to detect and pinpoint physical intrusion on the fiber in real time.
euNetworks stated the service responds to regulatory and security requirements across Europe. The EU’s coordinated post-quantum cryptography roadmap targets migration of high-risk and critical infrastructure by 2030. Regulations such as DORA and NIS2 raise expectations for encryption, crypto-agility and protection of traffic that traverses private or third-party infrastructure. The company noted customers will retain operational control over encryption keys and policies for the service.
Marisa Trisolino, CEO of euNetworks, described data center connectivity as central to customers’ operations and added: “We’re committed to providing customers with connectivity that meets increasingly stringent security requirements and chose to partner with Adtran because they bring deep expertise in optical networking and a practical understanding of how private infrastructure is built and operated at scale. Together, we’re providing connectivity that combines strong security, predictable performance and clear visibility into the underlying network, while customers retain control over how their data is encrypted.”
Christoph Glingener, CTO of Adtran, highlighted the pairing of quantum-resilient encryption with continuous fiber monitoring, noting the deployment is intended to protect critical traffic while maintaining performance and scalability: “Operators like euNetworks are setting a clear benchmark for how secure data center connectivity should be delivered. By combining quantum-resilient encryption with real-time fiber monitoring, we’re helping euNetworks safeguard critical traffic without compromising performance or scalability.”
euNetworks operates a pan-European dark-fiber and bandwidth network and offers Private Connect MOFN as a managed private link for enterprises. Adtran supplies optical transport platforms and monitoring solutions used in data center interconnects. Quantum Shield integrates dedicated optical paths, NIST-aligned post-quantum cryptography and automated fiber monitoring to provide an encrypted, monitored Layer-1 service for customers that require protected data in transit across Europe.
