Equals selects Aiimi to automate DSAR handling
Equals has chosen Aiimi’s AI platform to automate Data Subject Access Request handling and strengthen UK GDPR governance via a secure SaaS deployment.
Equals has selected Aiimi’s AI platform to automate handling of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and reinforce its UK GDPR data governance. The tool will be deployed as a secure, cloud-hosted software-as-a-service and integrated with the company’s existing data protection systems.
Aiimi will work with Equals’ Data Protection Officer and IT team to speed and standardise responses to DSARs so the firm can meet regulatory time limits more reliably.
Under UK GDPR, organisations normally must respond to a DSAR within one calendar month. Failure to comply can lead to penalties of up to £17.5 million or 4% of global annual turnover. The Information Commissioner’s Office has recorded a 15% increase in DSAR-related complaints directed at finance firms.
Aiimi’s platform automates repetitive elements of the DSAR workflow. Features include automated redaction of third-party data at scale, deduplication of records, threading of email chains, two-way communication with data subjects and a full audit log to support compliance reviews.
Equals expects the tool to help its data protection team meet deadlines more consistently and free staff to focus on higher-value compliance and governance tasks.
Steve Salvin, Aiimi’s chief executive and founder, commented: “Disclosure requests have increased and often involve highly sensitive information. Completing a DSAR manually is repetitive and prone to error. Our platform uses AI to automate time-consuming tasks and can reduce multi-day processes to minutes.”
Lee Rowles, Data Protection Officer at Equals, noted: “Clients expect their data to be protected every time money moves through our platform. We treat data governance as core infrastructure. The operational burden of DSAR compliance has grown, and Aiimi’s solution met our standards for rigor and usability. It will free our team to focus on higher-value data protection work and help us meet ICO expectations.”
The deployment comes amid wider use of automation and AI in financial services to manage regulatory workloads. Equals, which describes itself as a next-generation global money movement platform, stated the deployment is intended to scale its compliance processes as DSAR volumes rise.
